Picture yourself getting ready to explore your next weekend project. You browse the web for a video to teach you the art of making banana bread, or how to change the air filter in your trusty ‘04 Honda Accord. You find one that seems legit, only to hear that patented tin can audio, or worse yet, it’s so muffled you can’t even tell what they’re saying. It may have been the greatest banana bread ever to grace the earth, but you wouldn’t know because you quickly decided to find a different video.
It’s not enough to sound like an expert, you must also SOUND like an expert. That’s where I come in.
I’m Mark Meyer, and I’m thrilled to bring my talent as a podcast editor and audio engineer to Earfluence. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in the Class of 2020 with a major in Media Production and a minor in Composition and Rhetoric. I’ve been building my skills in recording and editing audio for more than a decade. Each experience, from cutting my high school punk band’s first cassette tape to helping produce the Southern Futures Podcast, has helped me develop an ear trained in the fine details of sound quality.
As I mentioned before, I’m here to help you sound like an expert. When editing I focus on removing the clutter: the unnecessary ums and uhs, redundant sentences, and anything else that disrupts the flow of conversation. Then comes the magic of a professional mix, where I add in subtle yet powerful tools that give your podcasts that high-fidelity studio sound. In short, I’m here to handle the vocal processing and noise reduction so you can focus on making stellar content.
Of course, life isn’t all about work, I love spending time around the house delving into my countless hobbies: painting, reading, tending to the garden and trying new recipes commingle with my continued exploration of offbeat music and everything geek culture. I love to check out restaurants and bars, trying out new foods and running into old friends I’ve met during my storied career in Raleigh’s kitchens and dining rooms. But most of all, I love live music, both attending shows and being on stage. Over the years, my punk and metal bands have played some wicked shows in prominent local basements and dive bars, and my current band, Flesh Tuxedo, continues to put on killer performances with our quirky blend of indie and party rock.
Keep an eye out for me in the Triangle (👀), and reach out any time you want to talk about podcasts, music, audiobooks, grilling, rock steady reggae, cats, dogs, super smash bros., brunch meccas, thrifting or anything else.
